MAIN STORY: Basketball in disarray

Basketball in South Australia is in a deplorable state of administration and finance. With naming rights changing left, right and centre, low funds and few interested sponsors many players and fans are upset, pointing the fingure squarely at BASA. (Basketball Association of South Australia)

The Adelaide lightning are now the Adelaide Fellas and the 36ers are now the 6ers. The Clipsal Powerhouse, home of the 6ers, is now the Distinctive Homes Dome. Recent talk of longstanding players such as Brett Maher not re-signing with the club this season has caused much concern amongst fans.

The Basketball Association of South Australia (BASA) has overseen these changes and has been criticised by players and spectators alike.

Boys are back in town

Brett Maher has recently returned from Turkey and looks certain to re-sign with the Adelaide 6ers. After playing for the Turkish club Besiktas he has been approached by various clubs, in particular the Townsville Crocodiles.
Adelaide's other gun forward Willie Farley was signed up on the 17th of June with a 2-year contract.
Other players who have been signed to the sixers for the upcoming season are David Cooper, Jacob Holmes, Oscar Forman, Dusty Rychart and new recruit Brad Hill

South Aus Bball

Hello sports fans

This blog site has been designed to analyse the current state of basketball in South Australia and the running of BASA (the Basketball Association of South Australia).
BASA has always come under criticism for its management of Adelaide basketball and I aim to find out if this criticism is warrented. I will keep an update of the activities of players, coaches and BASA management on this site.

I am interested in both local teams and the 6ers.
